BAFTA nominates The Martian

8th January 2016

We are delighted to announce Framestore's Chris Lawrence has received a nomination for the Special Visual Effects BAFTA for The Martian, alongside Tim Ledbury, Richard Stammers, and Steven Warner.

Ridley Scott's space masterpiece received six BAFTA nominations in total, in the Editing, Production Design, Sound, Special Visual Effects and Director categories, with Matt Damon nominated as Leading Actor for his role as Mark Watney.

As VFX Supervisor, Chris Lawrence led Framestore's teams in creating the outer space environments in the film, including the sweeping atmospheric backdrops of Mars and the intricate Hermes spacecraft. Chris was nominated for, and won, the Special Visual Effects BAFTA in 2014 for Gravity, alongside Framestore's Tim Webber and David Shirk.
